Grandpa Joe swore this was his 2 ingredient miracle when the weather finally starts getting warm. I never believed him until I watched an entire tray disappear in seconds.

This 2-ingredient orange cream float is exactly what my Grandpa Joe swore by every spring when the first truly warm day rolled in. He called it his “miracle,” and honestly, I thought he was exaggerating—until I watched a whole tray of these disappear in seconds at a neighborhood cookout. It’s essentially a classic American creamsicle in a glass: bright orange soda poured over scoops of vanilla ice cream, creating a frothy, creamy cap that melts into the drink. No fancy technique, no hidden ingredients—just a nostalgic, crowd-pleasing treat you can throw together in minutes.
Serve these orange cream floats ice-cold in glass mason jars, ideally straight from the kitchen counter to the patio or porch. They pair beautifully with simple summer foods: grilled hot dogs or brats, burgers, or a big bowl of salty popcorn. For dessert spreads, set them alongside a tray of cookies or a light fruit salad; the bright citrus and vanilla flavors complement buttery sweets and fresh berries. If you’re hosting, line up the jars on a light-colored counter or tray, add paper straws or long spoons, and let everyone grab a glass as soon as the foamy top settles in.
2-Ingredient Orange Cream Float
Servings: 4
Ingredients
4 cups orange soda, well chilled
8 small scoops (about 4 cups) vanilla ice cream
Directions
Chill your glass mason jars in the refrigerator or freezer for at least 10–15 minutes so the floats stay cold and the ice cream melts more slowly.
Place the chilled mason jars on a light-colored kitchen counter or tray. Add 2 small scoops of vanilla ice cream to each jar, leaving enough room at the top for the soda and foam.
Very slowly pour the cold orange soda down the inside of each jar, letting it gently flow over the ice cream. This helps control the foam so it doesn’t overflow too quickly.
