This is my little trick to keep my husband in high spirits – he absolutely loves it.

Cinnamon pear fritters are a delightful twist on the classic apple fritters, offering a warm, comforting dessert that’s perfect for fall. The origins of fritters can be traced back to ancient Rome, but this version, using the sweet and juicy pears combined with aromatic spices, brings a fresh and seasonal taste to the table. These fritters are not only a treat for your taste buds but also add a cozy, inviting aroma to your kitchen. They’re perfect for those looking to try something familiar yet with a unique twist, making them an excellent choice for holiday gatherings or a sweet snack on a chilly day.
Cinnamon pear fritters pair wonderfully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of freshly whipped cream. For a more sophisticated touch, try serving them with a drizzle of caramel sauce or a dusting of powdered sugar. A warm cup of spiced chai or a rich espresso also complements the fritters beautifully, enhancing their cinnamon and nutmeg notes.
Cinnamon Pear Fritters
Servings: 8
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
3/4 cup whole milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups diced ripe pears
Vegetable oil, for frying
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Directions
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
In another bowl, beat the eggs, then mix in the milk and vanilla extract.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Gently fold in the diced pears.
Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, drop small mounds of batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
Fry the fritters in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with enough milk to make a smooth glaze.
Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters before serving.
