Slowly pour chilled cherry soda over the ice cream scoops in the punch bowl. Pour in a steady stream, starting around the edges and then over the top, until the bowl is about three-quarters full. The soda will foam up into fizzy pink bubbles around the creamy white ice cream.
Let the foam settle for 30–60 seconds, then add a little more cherry soda if needed to reach your desired level in the bowl. You should see a mix of pink soda, bubbly foam, and visible ice cream scoops peeking through.
To serve, ladle or carefully pour the cherry vanilla float into cups, making sure each serving gets some soda and at least part of a scoop of ice cream. Serve immediately with spoons and straws so everyone can stir, sip, and scoop.
As the float sits, the ice cream will melt and the drink will become creamier. If the bowl gets low, you can quickly refresh the pouring station by adding a few more scoops of vanilla ice cream and topping off with more cherry soda. Wipe any drips from the counter with a damp cloth—cleanup truly takes just seconds.
