These southern baked ham and cheese party sliders are the kind of thing you set out on the table and, before you know it, the pan is mysteriously empty. They’re built on the old Midwestern church-basement classic: soft slider buns stuffed with salty ham and mellow Swiss, then drenched in one simple buttery glaze made with melted butter, Dijon mustard, poppy seeds, dried onion, and Worcestershire sauce. They bake up hot, gooey, and a little bit messy in the best way—perfect for game days, potlucks, or whenever you want a warm snack that tastes like it came straight out of Grandma’s kitchen.
Serve these sliders straight from the baking dish while they’re still warm and the cheese is stretchy. They go nicely with a simple green salad, potato salad, or a bowl of coleslaw if you’re feeding a crowd. For something heartier, pair them with a pot of soup—tomato, vegetable beef, or creamy potato all work well. A tray of crisp pickles and some potato chips or pretzels on the side will round things out without much extra work.
Southern Baked Ham and Swiss Party Sliders with Buttery Glaze
Servings: 12 sliders

Ingredients
12 soft slider buns or Hawaiian rolls
3/4 pound thinly sliced deli ham
8 ounces sliced Swiss cheese
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
1 tablespoon dried minced onion
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)
1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
Nonstick cooking spray or a little extra butter for greasing the baking dish
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray or a little soft butter.
Without pulling the slider buns completely apart, slice them horizontally as one big slab so you have a top and a bottom. Place the bottom half of the buns, cut side up, into the prepared baking dish.
Layer the ham evenly over the bottom buns, covering them from edge to edge. Follow with the Swiss cheese slices, arranging them so the ham is well covered. Set the top half of the buns over the cheese to reassemble the sliders in the dish.
In a small bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, dried minced onion, garlic powder (if using), salt, and black pepper until the glaze is well combined.
