There’s something about a cheesy beef biscuit bake that feels like a church potluck and a busy Tuesday night supper all rolled into one pan. Dishes like this grew up right alongside us in the Midwest, when folks needed to stretch a pound of meat and still bring something hearty to the table. It’s the kind of recipe you’d find scribbled on an index card in your mother’s handwriting, tucked into a stained old recipe box. With just three ingredients and one baking dish, this is a no-fuss, stick-to-your-ribs meal that’s perfect when you’re tired, the day’s been long, and you still want to put something warm and comforting in front of the people you love. It’s simple, familiar, and forgiving—just like the best home cooking always is.
This cheesy beef biscuit bake is a meal in itself, but it really shines when you round it out with a few simple sides. A crisp green salad with a tangy dressing helps cut through the richness and adds a bit of freshness to the plate. Buttered green beans or sweet corn—especially if you’ve put some up from the garden or bought from a local farm stand—make a lovely, old-fashioned pairing. If you’re feeding a bigger crowd, you can set out a bowl of applesauce or some sliced fresh tomatoes in the summer. And don’t forget a simple dessert: a pan of brownies or a dish of vanilla ice cream is all you need to finish things off in true Midwestern fashion.
3-Ingredient Cheesy Beef Biscuit Bake
Servings: 6 servings

Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 (16.3-ounce) can refrigerated biscuit dough (8 regular-size biscuits)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite shredded cheese blend)
Directions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or a similar casserole pan.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, until it’s browned and no longer pink, about 7–10 minutes. If there is a lot of grease in the pan, carefully drain off most of it, leaving just a little for flavor.
While the beef is cooking, open the can of biscuits. Using kitchen scissors or a knife, cut each biscuit into 4 small pieces. Set the pieces aside.
Spread the cooked, drained ground beef evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish, patting it out into a fairly even layer.
Scatter the biscuit pieces evenly over the top of the beef, tucking some down between the crumbles of meat so they bake up in little pockets throughout the casserole.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top, making sure most of the biscuit pieces are covered. A little peeking through is fine.
Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 18–25 minutes, or until the biscuits are puffed and cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly. If you’re unsure, lift a biscuit piece in the center with a fork to make sure it’s not doughy underneath.
Remove from the oven and let the bake rest for about 5 minutes to settle before cutting into squares. Serve warm, straight from the pan.
