Out here in the Midwest, pork tenderloin has always felt like a Sunday kind of meat—special enough for company, but humble enough for an everyday supper. This slow cooker garlic pork tenderloin is one of those recipes that reminds me of busy harvest seasons, when we needed something hearty waiting for us after long days in the fields. With just four simple ingredients, it leans on the kind of pantry staples our mothers and grandmothers always had on hand: good pork, plenty of garlic, and a savory sauce that perfumes the whole house as it cooks low and slow. It’s the kind of dish you put together in the quiet of the morning, then let it bubble away while life happens, knowing you’ll sit down later to something tender, comforting, and familiar. Someone might make this when they’re craving that old-fashioned, no-fuss flavor—proof that you don’t need a long ingredient list to feed people well and make the kitchen feel like home.
This garlic pork tenderloin is right at home on a plate with classic Midwestern sides. Spoon it alongside a pile of creamy mashed potatoes or buttered egg noodles, so they can soak up all those garlicky juices. A simple side of green beans—steamed or cooked with a bit of onion and bacon—keeps things honest and comforting. In the summer, sliced garden tomatoes or a cucumber salad brighten the plate; in the colder months, roasted carrots or a pan of cabbage sautéed in a little butter fit right in. Leftovers make wonderful sandwiches on soft rolls, maybe with a slice of cheese and a few pickles, for an easy next-day lunch.
4-Ingredient Slow Cooker Garlic Pork Tenderloin
Servings: 6
Ingredients
2 to 2 1/2 pounds pork tenderloin (usually 2 small tenderloins)
6 cloves garlic, minced (or about 2 tablespoons jarred minced garlic)
1 cup chicken broth (or water with 1 teaspoon bouillon)
1/4 cup soy sauce (or low-sodium soy sauce)
Directions
Pat the pork tenderloins dry with paper towels. If there is any silver skin on the tenderloin, trim it off with a sharp knife so the meat cooks up tender.
Place the pork tenderloins in the bottom of the slow cooker, tucking them in so they fit snugly.
In a small bowl, stir together the minced garlic, chicken broth, and soy sauce until well combined.
Pour the garlic mixture evenly over the pork in the slow cooker, turning the tenderloins once to coat them on all sides.
Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours, or on HIGH for 2 to 3 hours, until the pork is very tender and reaches an internal temperature of at least 145°F (63°C).
Once done, carefully remove the pork tenderloins to a cutting board and let them rest for about 5 minutes so the juices settle.
While the pork rests, skim any excess fat from the surface of the cooking liquid in the slow cooker. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, adding a splash more soy sauce or a bit of water to balance the saltiness.
Slice the pork tenderloin into medallions and return the slices to the slow cooker, spooning some of the garlicky juices over the top to keep them moist and flavorful.
